YORK HOSPITAL IN NEED OF MAINTENANCE

Pocklington MP Sir Greg Knight has been raising questions this week about maintenance backlogs at York and Bridlington hospitals. He wrote to health minister Will Quince to ask if there are any plans to reduce these backlogs.

In reply the minister said that York and Scarborough Hospitals Trust have a total backlog maintenance cost of over £36m and Bridlington just under £6m. The national backlog is £10.2b.

Will Quince adds that the government is spending record sums to upgrade NHS buildings including £4b this year and £12b over the next 3 years. This includes £39m for the York and Scarborough Trust but he doesn’t say which year.
