THE CONTINUING SAGA OF THE YAPHAM ROAD FOOTPATH – OR LACK OF IT.

Over the past year there have been several posts about the lack of footpath along Yapham Road adjacent to the Harron Homes development.

Way back in January 2022 Cllr Steve McCann reported that ERYC would begin work on the installation of a new footpath in Spring 2022. Here we are a year later and still nothing has happened.

Cllr McCann has been chasing this for the past 12 montsh and updated the last PTC meeting that the officer who had been dealing with the issue had left and it appeared to have fallen through the cracks.

He had met with a new officer who said initially it was on a ‘To Do List’ Following further calls an ERYC engineer has met with Harron Homes staff to agree a plan which includes installing proper drainage and the footpath. No timescale has been agreed apart from the fact that it will happen this year.

NB: In a normal world where ward councillors support their local community, they would have lobbied for this work to happen, but they don’t. Instead, our volunteer town councillors have to beg and cajole to get anything done on our behalf.
