After it was announced that Pocklington School were going to fence off the front of their sports hall which is currently used as a bus shelter, Pocklington Town Council approached East Riding council to ask for a bigger bus shelter. ERYC originally turned down the request but after meeting with Town Councillors changed their minds.
The proposal is to re-site the three bicycle racks closer to the library and to replace the existing 3 bay bus shelter with a new 6 bay shelter which would include an electronic information board similar to those in cities like York and Hull. Evidently it just wouldn’t look right if another 3 bay shelter was plonked alongside the existing.
The estimated cost for this work is £20,000. The work will go out to tender and there is a hope that the cost might come down.
Councillors have asked if they can reuse the existing shelter.
