POCKLINGTON ARTS CENTRE HEADING FOR A BUDGET DEFICIT.

A year ago I reported that the Pocklington Arts Centre was to lose a £69,500 grant from the Arts Council. Currently the Arts Centre is receiving a transitional grant of £23k for the current financial year but this will disappear next year.

Despite the fact that there was an increase on gross profit on shows/sales the centre is currently recording a loss of £27k for the first two quarters due to the decreasing grant. If the rate of loss continues it would result in a deficit of £54k across the whole year.

In addition to driving down the cost of cleaning and utilities, Arts Centre staff are currently working hard to try and identify additional grants and other sources of funding to replace the Arts Centre grant.

At the moment it isn’t clear how the deficit will be funded. Pocklington Arts Centre is run as a department of Pocklington Town Council.
