COVID SPRING BOOSTER CAMPAIGN

NHS COVID vaccines have saved countless lives, kept tens of thousands of people out of hospital, and helped us to live with the virus without fear or restrictions. The virus is still with us and making thousands of people ill every week. Protection against COVID (either from catching the virus or from a previous vaccination) fades over time.

The spring booster campaign is about to begin and is for those at highest risk of severe illness from COVD.

Those who can get a spring vaccination include:

  • people aged 75 and over (by 30 June 2023),
  • people with a weakened immune system (this does not include family members),
  • residents of care homes for older adults.

Pocklington Group Practice will begin the vaccination programme as soon as vaccines arrive which is likely to be in May for mass vaccination, the first cohort we will be vaccinating are those in a care home.

Currently the deliveries are very slow but rest assured we will be delivering the vaccine here at the Practice. We will let you know as soon as the vaccine is available, additionally the NHS will write to people to remind those eligible that they can get the vaccine and how to book. If you want your vaccine here, then please wait for us to contact you.

The last date people will be able to book a spring booster will be 29 June, with the last spring vaccinations on offer the following day, 30 June.
