Pocklington Wolds WI (Afternoon)

Venue: Pocklington Methodist Church
Address: Chapmangate , Pocklington, YO42,

The Women’s Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 and is now the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK, having almost 220,000 members in approximately 6,300 WIs.

The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.

The WI is based on the ideals of fellowship, truth, tolerance and justice. The organisation is non-sectarian and non-party political.

Pocklington Wolds WI is affiliated to the National Federation of Women’s Institutes.

We are a very sociable group and currently have over 40 members.  At each meeting we have a speaker or an activity, and provide refreshments.  We have a craft group and a lunch group and we will be arranging more groups according to the interests of our members.  In addition to this we support the National Federation of Women’s Institutes in campaigns. On a local level we like to support initiatives that are of benefit to Pocklington such as assisting with the maintenance of the Planters which are situated around town.
