Social and competitive lawn bowls in the summer months and Short Mat bowls in the winter months.

• Venue:  The lawn bowls green is to the rear of the Village Hall.  Plenty of off-road parking is available.  The address is Main Street, Melbourne, York, YO42 4QJ.  Short Mat bowls is played in the village hall.

Lawn Bowls

The summer bowls season runs from the end of April to the first Saturday in September.

• We hold an Open Day on the last Saturday in April. All are welcome. Just bring a pair of flat soled shoes and we will provide all of the equipment for you to try this sport.
• We run a social bowls session from 2pm to 4pm every Tuesday afternoon from May to the end of August. Once again everyone is welcome to join us although we do insist that all minors are accompanied by an adult.
• If you seek competitive bowls then we have teams in the Humberside County leagues and the Humberside Sports Association leagues on an evening, plus the Driffield Veterans league on a Wednesday afternoon.

Short Mat Bowls

• We play this version of the game of bowls in the village hall. Practice night is a Monday evening, 7pm to 9pm starting towards the end on September and finishing in early March. All are welcome to come and try this sport on a Monday evening. Once again please bring a pair of flat soled shoes with you please.
• We play in the Selby league on an evening and our home matches are played on a Wednesday.
