NO LEVELLING UP CASH FOR EAST YORKSHIRE.

Today the Government announced that more than 100 projects will get a share of £2.1bn of levelling up funding.
This will include:
  • £18m for seafront developments in Cleethorpes.
  • Barton on Humber £20m for transport improvements.
  • £50m for The Eden Project in Morecambe, Lancashire,
  • £50m grant to build a new direct train service linking Cornwall’s largest urban areas.
  • Mr Sunak’s own constituency of Richmond, in North Yorkshire, will get £19m to develop the Catterick Garrison town centre.
  • The London Borough of Camden – where Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has his constituency – will receive £7m for cycling and walking infrastructure and local GP services.
There is nothing for East Yorkshire. As you can see on the map below the East Riding is a blank sheet of paper.
On the other hand there could be good reasons for no funding coming to our area including:
  • No one made a bid.
  • Our area is at the bottom of the Governments list due to the inability of ERYC and Hull CC to agree a devolution deal.
  • East Yorkshire is already flat and does not need to levelled.
  • Everyone in East Yorkshire votes Tory so there’s no need to waste money on us.
  • Bad luck.
