HSBC, the last bank in Pocklington will close on 6 June. This will leave one building society and 5 cash machines (Sainsburys, BP Garage, Shell Garage, Nationwide BS, CoOp) to serve Pocklingtons financial needs.

The Link network is responsible for co ordinating the set up of banking hubs but so far only 4 have been established across the UK. Currently their website has earmarked Pocklington for a cash deposit service only. Businesses and individuals will be able to deposit cash in but no other services will be provided. No information is available about when this service will begin or where it might be located.

The Town Council are keen to lobby for a full banking hub but it is not clear how far they have got. They also depend upon support from ERYC and we all know how likely that is.
