With the new session of Parliament commencing on the 7th November 2023, Sir Greg’s Parking (Code of Practice) Act approved by Parliament, will move a step closer to implementation following the Government’s recent Call for Evidence to assist in the finalisation of the yet-to-be published Code of Practice, mandated by Greg’s legislation.
Ministers have revealed, in response to questions from Greg in Parliament, that they intend to shortly publish the Government’s response to the Call for Evidence, which closed on 8th October 2023, along with an Impact Assessment, and will unveil proposals on options for handling parking charges and debt recovery fees.
The Act seeks to make parking fairer for motorists and to prevent unfair practices in the parking industry.
Greg has welcomed this step forward and said he hopes that his Act will come into force during this forthcoming 2023/2024 Parliamentary.
