Clearly there has been a lot in the media about Shiptonthorpe, the Parish Council duly elected me to be spokesperson regarding reacting to the negative comments about the Village and I quote one headline “The Village of the Dammed”.

I have constantly spoken up for the wonderful place we love and enjoy to live within…..Shiptonthorpe. I have spoken to the Press, to the best of my ability but some of the Press are simply looking for a story with little or no consideration for the people who live here and in one case just to get more traffic on Social Media.

Anyway after many interviews, also three different requests to appear on live TV, “Good Morning Britain” had some appeal, due to their different angle on events however after discussions amongst Councillors we duly rejected those offers.

Now hopefully the message has been received and understood. There will be no more comment from the Parish Council to the Press, as per our stated Media Policy, so any stories are now perpetuated by others. I would add some journalists genuinely wanted to know facts and report the truth but most had little or no interest in our community.

To repeat, I kept saying the same thing which I believe passionately, we live in a lovely, friendly, kind and caring community of which 8 Parish Councillors and the vast majority of Shiptonthorpe residents totally agree upon, with maybe only a very small minority disagreeing.
